About The Position

At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other. Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter. Your Impact Axon’s Enterprise Security team is looking for a Security Engineer I focused on building and supporting enterprise security controls and automations across core platforms (network/firewalls, endpoints, cloud, and key enterprise SaaS tools). This is a hands-on engineering role where you’ll implement scoped control improvements and automation under the guidance of senior engineers, with an emphasis on reliability, audibility, and operational usability. You’ll help reduce manual security work by turning defined requirements into repeatable automation—improving consistency, evidence quality, and control health over time. This is not a Security Operations or Incident Response role. You will be expected to ship production-grade control improvements and help operate them with clear ownership, monitoring, and safe rollout/rollback practices.

Requirements

  • 0–3 years of experience in security engineering, systems engineering, IT automation, platform engineering, or related roles.
  • Practical scripting/automation ability in Python or TypeScript (or similar), including comfort working with REST APIs and JSON.
  • Foundational understanding of enterprise security concepts such as:
  • Familiarity with common integration patterns (webhooks/events, scheduled jobs, retry/error handling, structured logging).
  • Experience working in production-oriented environments with good change hygiene (documentation, peer review, careful rollouts).

Responsibilities

  • Implement enterprise security automations and controls from established designs, including network rule hygiene, segmentation workflows, baseline validation, and SaaS/cloud drift detection.
  • Build and run security automation with scripts and APIs by developing connectors, troubleshooting failures, and hardening workflows with retries, idempotency, and clear error handling.
  • Own the operational health of security controls by monitoring alerts, triaging issues with runbooks, and escalating with clear diagnostics and suggested fixes.
  • Maintain strong documentation and audit readiness by capturing control intent and workflow details, and supporting audit evidence in partnership with GRC.
  • Partner with Infrastructure, SRE/Platform, and application teams to deliver security controls that improve posture without slowing delivery velocity.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and 401k with employer match
  • Discretionary paid time off
  • Paid parental leave for all
  • Medical, Dental, Vision plans
  • Fitness Programs
  • Emotional & Mental Wellness support
  • Learning & Development programs
  • Employee Resource Groups (ERGs)
  • And yes, we have snacks in our offices
