About The Position

A security dispatcher is responsible for receiving, prioritizing, and responding to calls for service. The role requires calm decision‑making under pressure, accurate information gathering, and efficient coordination with security officers, other emergency services, the public, and other departments within the Casino. Security Dispatchers serve as the first point of contact in critical situations and play a key role in maintaining a safe environment for the Casino & Hotel.

Requirements

  • Prior clerical experience preferred.
  • High school diploma.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize information.
  • Excellent verbal, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand the English language.
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the position.
  • Ability to multitask – Manage calls, radio traffic, and data entry simultaneously.
  • Critical thinking – Quickly assess situations and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to maintain composure and clarity during traumatic/intense calls or stress.
  • Technical proficiency — Comfortable with dispatch software, databases, and radio systems.
  • Attention to detail — Accurate data entry and careful tracking of security officer activity.
  • Team collaboration — Work closely with dispatch partners and law enforcement personnel.
  • Ability to lift and carry office supplies and materials weighing up to approximately 25-30 pounds as part of daily tasks.
  • Frequent walking throughout the office to retrieve files, assist customers, and perform administrative duties.
  • Regular bending, kneeling, and reaching to access filing cabinets, storage areas, and office equipment.
  • Ability to sit and stand repeatedly, including quickly rising from a seated position to assist customers at the service windows.
  • Twisting and turning motions are required when filing, retrieving documents, or organizing materials.
  • Extended periods of standing when assisting customers at the front counter or service window.

Responsibilities

  • Answer emergency and non‑emergency calls — Gather essential details, assess urgency, and determine the appropriate response.
  • Dispatch security officers — Assign officers to incidents based on priority, location, and available resources.
  • Monitor officer safety — Track unit status, maintain constant radio communication, and document activities in real time.
  • Operate communication systems — Use computer‑aided dispatch (CAD), radio consoles, phone systems, and databases.
  • Provide pre‑arrival instructions — Offer guidance to callers when appropriate (e.g., safety steps, situational instructions).
  • Document and log information — Record call details, officer assignments, and incident updates accurately and promptly.
  • Effectively coordinate with other agencies — Communicate with fire, EMS, neighboring jurisdictions, and state or federal agencies when needed.
  • Handle high‑stress situations — Maintain composure during crises such as violent crimes, accidents, or life-threatening emergencies.
  • Maintain confidentiality — Protect sensitive information and follow all legal and departmental privacy requirements.
  • Must show professionalism and empathy when interacting with the public.
  • Performs all other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
