Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience in criminal justice, fire service, or safety and prevention
  • Minimum Associates degree in related field
  • Minimum 3 years management experience
  • Ability to manage projects and/or staff
  • Well-versed with state criminal and fire codes, and proactive safety and security programs
  • Thorough understanding of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations, for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and software related to campus safety and security programs

Responsibilities

  • Supervise maintenance staff to: repair or replace defective equipment parts using hand and power tools reassemble equipment perform routine preventive maintenance ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of the building(s) does not deteriorate
  • Detect criminal activity and reports appropriate matters to local law enforcement agencies for proper resolution
  • Develop and implement proper evacuation procedures, to ensure effective egress of students and staff in the event of an emergency
  • Ensure quarterly safety inspections are completed
  • See to the inspection of hallways, classrooms, and office areas, to ensure compliance with state and local fire and building codes
  • Assist the Campus President with budgetary matters, campus procurement, and expenses
  • Oversee any assembling, installing and/or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment, in reference to staff or licensed contractors to perform jobs requiring permits
  • Manage the maintenance staff or work performed by licensed contractors
