Sector Strategist – Assistant Director The Opportunity As an Assistant Director within EY’s Brand, Marketing and Communications function, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing integrated marketing strategies for the Aerospace, Defense and Mobility (ADM) sector. Working closely with leadership, this role translates complex business priorities and market insights into high‑impact, omnichannel marketing campaigns that strengthen brand positioning, drive engagement, and support growth objectives. The Assistant Director leads the day‑to‑day planning and execution of campaigns and programs, coordinating cross‑functional teams and external partners, managing program budgets, and leveraging performance insights to drive continuous improvement and measurable impact.

Requirements

  • Proven success working within a large, matrixed organization, ideally in professional services or a similarly complex environment.
  • Strong understanding of modern marketing and communications principles, including integrated, omnichannel, and digital marketing.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, complex, and time‑sensitive initiatives with a high degree of organization and accountability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling messaging.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with senior leaders across diverse teams.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining proactive communication with stakeholders and leadership.
  • Act as a leader within the Industrials & Energy marketing team by coaching junior talent, fostering collaboration, and modeling high standards of quality, accountability, and inclusion.
  • A minimum of 7-8 years of marketing and communications experience, with industry and/or agency experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies and plans for the ADM sector, ensuring alignment with business priorities, sector strategy, and stakeholder objectives.
  • Partner closely with sector leadership to develop a deep understanding of key issues, buyers, and market dynamics, informing campaign strategy, messaging, and activation.
  • Lead the creation, implementation, and evaluation of go‑to‑market activities, including thought leadership and perspectives, media and communications support, event development and management, and digital and social marketing initiatives.
  • Support the Associate Director (Industrials Marketing Leader) in the development of the annual ADM marketing strategy and oversee execution of campaigns aligned to that strategy.
  • Support conceptualizing creative brand moments inclusive of signature programs, digital advertising and paid media.
  • Oversee the development and distribution of marketing content, collateral, and external communications tailored to priority audiences and growth initiatives.
  • Work cross‑functionally with Sector, Service Line, Alliance, Global Marketing, Digital, and Communications teams to ensure cohesive and integrated campaign delivery.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and vendors to support activation, enhance quality, and improve efficiency across marketing programs.
  • Ensure all marketing activities adhere to EY brand standards, risk management protocols, and internal governance and reporting requirements.
  • Serve as a counselor to at least one team member and provide informal leadership to junior marketing team members, fostering collaboration, accountability, and high‑quality delivery.
  • Partner with sector leaders to shape marketing initiatives aligned to strategic objectives and business priorities.
  • Define success metrics and KPIs, translating performance data, market trends, and audience insight into actionable recommendations that improve ROI and inform investment decisions.
  • Leverage data and AI‑enabled tools to optimize campaign performance, workflow efficiency, and quality of delivery.
  • Exercise independent judgment in managing complex initiatives, resolving issues, and escalating risks and tradeoffs as appropriate.
  • Recommend program‑level optimizations and budget allocations within assigned initiatives; elevate broader investment considerations to senior leadership.

  • The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $96,300 to $180,100.
  • The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $115,600 to $204,600.
  • Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
