About The Position

This leadership role is based within a Caterpillar parts and hose assembly operation supporting multiple North American manufacturing facilities. The Menominee, Michigan site assembles, inspects, packages, and ships hydraulic hoses used across Caterpillar machines. As a Production Section Manager, you will lead the launch of a newly created weekend shift in response to increased demand. The role operates Friday through Sunday, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM and oversees end‑to-end hose assembly operations, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity while building a strong leadership rhythm across a team of frontline supervisors and production employees. This position manages approximately 20–30 hourly employees through three Team Leads, fostering accountability, communication, and continuous improvement in a non-union environment.

Requirements

Degree or equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience preferred.
2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or distribution environment.
Experience leading teams through Team Leads, supervisors, or similar frontline leadership roles.
Understanding of Root Cause Analysis and corrective action processes.
Exposure to parts assembly, hose assembly, hydraulic components, or high-mix manufacturing operations.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with Power BI and SAP is a plus.
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams from diverse leadership backgrounds, including first-time supervisors or leaders from non-traditional industries.

Responsibilities

Creating reports and records of production processes, tools issues performance, and inventory; sharing them with managers and providing suggestions to improve safety, productivity and quality.
Actively participate in production meetings to communicate updates and drive improvements.
Preparing, maintaining, and updating documentation related to operating procedures and safety and quality standards; ensuring all processes and products meet desired safety and quality standards.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives by managing improvement boards and maintaining accurate records.
Supervising and directing the daily activities of production lines workers, assigning tasks, ensuring coordination between different teams, ensuring their safety and monitoring their performance.
Coordinating training of new hires, managing scheduling and work conflicts, monitoring safety, and promoting internal communication to create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
