About The Position

This leadership role is based within a Caterpillar parts and hose assembly operation supporting multiple North American manufacturing facilities. The Menominee, Michigan site assembles, inspects, packages, and ships hydraulic hoses used across Caterpillar machines. As a Production Section Manager, you will lead the launch of a newly created weekend shift in response to increased demand. The role operates Friday through Sunday, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM and oversees end‑to-end hose assembly operations, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity while building a strong leadership rhythm across a team of frontline supervisors and production employees. This position manages approximately 20–30 hourly employees through three Team Leads, fostering accountability, communication, and continuous improvement in a non-union environment.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or distribution environment.
  • Experience leading teams through Team Leads, supervisors, or similar frontline leadership roles.
  • Understanding of Root Cause Analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Exposure to parts assembly, hose assembly, hydraulic components, or high-mix manufacturing operations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; familiarity with Power BI and SAP is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams from diverse leadership backgrounds, including first-time supervisors or leaders from non-traditional industries.

Responsibilities

  • Creating reports and records of production processes, tools issues performance, and inventory; sharing them with managers and providing suggestions to improve safety, productivity and quality.
  • Actively participate in production meetings to communicate updates and drive improvements.
  • Preparing, maintaining, and updating documentation related to operating procedures and safety and quality standards; ensuring all processes and products meet desired safety and quality standards.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives by managing improvement boards and maintaining accurate records.
  • Supervising and directing the daily activities of production lines workers, assigning tasks, ensuring coordination between different teams, ensuring their safety and monitoring their performance.
  • Coordinating training of new hires, managing scheduling and work conflicts, monitoring safety, and promoting internal communication to create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
