About The Position

Cleveland-Cliffs, Cleveland Works has an immediate opening for a Section Manager Environmental at the Cleveland, OH facility, in our Environmental department. Summary of Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of environmental programs and be familiar with all major disciplines, including air, water, solid waste, SARA, etc. Interpret environmental regulations and determine impact to the facility, and implement necessary compliance programs. Develop, implement, and manage environmental strategies, plans, and procedures. Interact with various local, State, and Federal Environmental agencies. Prepare appropriate internal and external reports and timely submit utilizing proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office, as well as various internal computerized systems. Direct the development and implementation of corrective action plans utilizing root cause and failure analysis tools to rectify non-compliance situations and to prevent recurrences. Provide direction and oversight of environmental performance improvement projects. Participate in rotating on-call responsibilities, including responding to environmental emergency situations twenty-four hours a day. Oversee preparation of federal, state, and local permit applications. Provide technical direction and oversight of environmental employee training. Participate in capital and long-term planning programs to address key environmental issues. Develop and maintain a well-trained professional environmental staff. Direct and supervise environmental department staff, contractors, and consultants. Provide oversight of internal environmental audits. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • A minimum of five years of professional experience in an environmental related discipline.
  • Current strong working knowledge of Federal and State environmental laws and regulations.
  • Broad knowledge of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System standard.
  • Problem-solving, facilitation, and implementation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interact well with all employees, agents, and the general public.
  • Expected to work independently and handle multiple priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental, or Chemical discipline.
  • Seven years of professional experience in an environmental-related discipline.
