This is advanced secretarial support work providing typing, organizational and related support to management officials and assisting associated staff members in the substantive processing of functional requirements. A position in this class provides a variety of services in direct support of the manager and develops and implements new or changed procedures, workflow or similar processing methods and techniques. Work may include the personal performance of substantive processing work and/or the oversight of other clerical positions, but the primary emphasis is on the provision of traditional secretarial services. The incumbent is individually responsible for facilitating the work of those supported and ensuring the orderly and efficient accomplishment of functions. Typical work involves evaluating and recommending improvements to office procedures and workflow, managing incoming mail and determining its priority and required action, handling visitors and callers, maintaining calendars and scheduling appointments and meetings for managers and staff, coordinating conferences, and preparing various documents such as correspondence, reports, and agreements from dictation or drafts, while also maintaining office files.
