Secondary Teacher
About The Position
LifeWise Secondary Education teachers will demonstrate in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities for students in grades 6-12. The ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, committed and proficient in teaching. This role involves completing initial and ongoing training, teaching LifeWise classes using the provided curriculum, maintaining accurate student and class records, fostering a positive classroom environment, and communicating effectively with school personnel, volunteers, and the program director while acting as a LifeWise Academy ambassador.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience (with students) in either a school or church setting
- A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
- Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the "What We Believe" section of the the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
Responsibilities
- Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course within 30 days of the start date and prior to teaching in the LifeWise classroom
- Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year
- Attend at least one Teachers' Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
- Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
- Utilize the LifeWise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customization
- Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources
- Implement age-appropriate lesson plans using only LifeWise curriculum
- Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them regularly
- Cultivate an organized and encouraging classroom environment through various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in nature
- Prioritize student engagement
- Keep accurate student attendance records
- Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and photo permission as noted on parent permission slips
- Prepare adequate lesson plans, information and materials for a substitute teacher
- Establish a culture that fosters academic pursuits and a love of learning as a means to promote a spiritual growth
- Maintain a clean, attractive, age appropriate and well-ordered classroom
- Know procedures for dealing with emergency situations
- Purchase classroom supplies as neede using funds provided by the program director
- Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
- Attend events as available or requested by the program director
- Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule changes and ensure student well-being
- Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
- Submit regular updates, stories and photos to the program director
- Promote and communicate LifeWise's religious mission in all duties and interactions, ensuring alignment with the organization's core values and beliefs
