Secondary English Teacher
About The Position
A secondary English teacher at Belleview Christian School will teach and coordinate the content area (English) of the educational program for students in grades 7 th -12 th . Courses may include General English, World Literature, American Literature, and British Literature. There will be a nine-week probationary period and classroom observation by the administration. Qualifications: Must be a Christian, walking in fellowship with Christ, Godly, above reproach in all areas of life, and apt to teach, I Tim 3:2. Must be at least 21 years of age. Hold a bachelor’s degree from a college or university. Be knowledgeable of materials taught. Must be willing to apply for ACSI Teaching Certification at the time employment starts or before contract renewal for the second year of teaching. Must be physically and emotionally able to do the work required. Must be dependable. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, as well as meet deadlines. Computer skills must be equal to the requirements of the job. Must relate well with students in 7 th -12 th grades. Must be able to talk with parents reasonably and deal with students in a fair and just way. Must have good Biblical discipline and classroom management. Work directly under the supervision of grade level principal. Hours of employment: Hours of employment will be set by the administration at the time of hire. (Full-time working hours are 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.) BCS Handbooks: Reading the faculty/staff handbook and student handbooks is required to have an overall understanding of and be familiar with school policy and function. Functions: Be responsible for teaching assigned students and work under the school principal. Employees are reviewed for quality of performance and compliance with the policies of the school.

Responsibilities
- Teaching assigned students
- Work under the school principal
- Assume personal responsibility for the Christian nurture of each student under your care
- Be responsible for the constructive, Biblical methods of discipline in your classroom
- Post weekly lesson plans for the following week
- Prepare a syllabus for students and families that outlines discipline, grading, and assignments for the school year
- Follow the provided curriculum and discuss variations with your supervisor
- Make sure learning goals are clearly stated with each lesson and all yearly objectives are met
- Move around the classroom
- Scaffold and individualize instruction, as necessary
- Attend all staff meetings and school-related activities during and after school hours
