About The Position

USD 495 is seeking a Secondary Band Instructor for the 2026–27 school year to work with students at Larned Middle School and Larned High School. About USD 495 USD 495 is a PK–12 district serving about 850 students. We are a small, close-knit district where students are known by name and supported by staff who work closely together. Our fine arts programs, including band, play an important role in student involvement and school activities.

Requirements

• Kansas teaching license in music education, or ability to obtain
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• A student-first approach to teaching and learning
• Ability to work well with others and be part of a team

Nice To Haves

• Band teaching experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Teach middle school and high school band classes
• Plan and lead rehearsals, concerts, and performances
• Help students grow in musical skills, teamwork, and responsibility
• Build positive relationships with students and families
• Communicate clearly with colleagues and school staff
• Participate in school and community events connected to the band program
