About The Position

Within the Department of Transportation, student will provide assistance to staff in performing technical support tasks in a variety of operating programs; to perform research, compile data and to prepare reports and analyses. Students will work alongside career professionals in such areas as: Records Management, Traffic Management, Property Management, Health & Safety, Claims Adjudication, and Administrative Services during a specific limited period. Duties are assigned individually in detail; work is closely supervised. A student in this classification might compile, update and analyze complex sets of data for technical reports; may assist in the development of databases; may assist administrative support to career professionals in a variety of transportation disciplines; may assist in scheduling, planning and presenting, at public meetings; may assist in the development of organizational communications; may assist in the design, development and implementation of all types of projects, research studies, and surveys in their assigned program area. To do related work as required.

Requirements

  • This position requires the exercise of independent judgment, exceptional written and verbal communication skills, filing ability, and excellent computer skills; spreadsheet, databases, and word processing computer software; the ability to prepare clear and concise oral and written reports; the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; the ability to make effective oral presentations; and related capacities and abilities.
  • Applicants should be at least a second year student, enrolled at an accredited college/university majoring in a related concentration program; a student's academic standing and GPA are judged for placement preference.
