About The Position

This position is for Seasonal Support Staff at Young Life's Lost Canyon camp. Young Life is a Christian ministry focused on evangelism and discipleship, requiring all employees and volunteers to profess belief in Jesus Christ and subscribe to the Young Life Statement of Faith. The role supports the operational aspects of Camping Services and represents Young Life in a Christ-centered, relational, and professional manner. Staff are expected to minister as servants of God, proclaiming the gospel, and abiding by biblical standards and Young Life policies. The camp environment aims to create a setting where staff bring Christ to life by creatively presenting the complete gospel. This seasonal role (3 months, from August 6th through November 10th) involves communal living and working, fostering a close-knit, missional community. Team members typically serve 3-5 days a week in Housekeeping, with remaining time supporting areas such as Landscape, Retail, and Food Services, requiring flexibility and a genuine servant’s heart. This dynamic environment fosters collaboration, personal growth, and a deep sense of meaning through both work and daily life.

Requirements

Profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord
Subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith
Be ready, willing and able to fulfill such ministry functions as may be required by the organization
Refrain from conduct and statements that detract from the biblical standards taught and supported by Young Life
Abide by all policies and practices of Young Life including, without limitation, those related to religious belief or ministry activities
High School diploma
Previous work experience
Ability to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff
Ability to respond to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner
Ability to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community
Ability to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camps
Flexibility and a genuine servant’s heart

Responsibilities

Assist with program needs and equipment including locating and constructing
Be responsible for property tasks assigned such as firewood, lakefront, pool, special maintenance projects, tours, camp prep and shutdown
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Guest Services coordinator
Help turn over buildings in weekly housekeeping changeovers
Uphold Young Life standards of cleanliness and proper cleaning procedures
Perform Housekeeping duties including cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting and any other cleaning as directed by the Housekeeping supervisor
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Housekeeping supervisor
Participate in food preparation
Perform calculations to determine proportions and measurements
Set tables for meals
Participate in meal clean-up including but not limited to bussing tables, washing pots, operating washing station, re-stocking equipment
Participate in meal service
Operate within Young Life sanitation standards
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Food Service manager
Empty trash bins located around property
Sweep or use a backpack blower to clean porches, basketball court and more
Lawn maintenance including but not limited to cutting grass, weed-eating, planting, watering and more
Wash camp vehicles
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Sites and Facilities superintendent
Organize store and snack bar merchandise
Operate Point-of-Sale system
Make change
Process end-of-shift store/snack bar reports
Perform any other tasks assigned by the Retail manager
Serve 3–5 days each week in Housekeeping to help turn over camp between groups
Support areas such as Landscape, Retail, and Food Services
Step in wherever help is needed on a given day
