JOB SUMMARY The Busser is a key support role dedicated to maintaining the cleanliness and flow of the dining room. You are responsible for ensuring that tables are cleared, sanitized, and reset promptly to minimize guest wait times. By supporting the servers and maintaining a pristine environment, you play a vital role in delivering an exceptional guest experience. The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

Requirements

  • Customer Focus: Must be motivated and demonstrate a "guest-first" mentality.
  • Communication: Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions from servers and management.
  • Reliability: Punctuality and the ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
  • Teamwork: Works collaboratively with both Front-of-House and Back-of-House teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for the duration of a shift (up to 8 hours).
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting.
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy bus tubs or trays weighing up to 30 pounds.
  • Exposure to wet floors, cleaning chemicals, and varying temperatures.

Responsibilities

  • Clear, clean, and sanitize tables immediately after guests depart.
  • Reset tables according to brand standards for the next seating.
  • Maintain a sense of urgency to ensure a high turnover of tables while minimizing noise and disruption to current guests.
  • Monitor the dining room floors for debris or spills and sweep or mop as needed to maintain safety and appearance.
  • Empty trash receptacles and transport soiled linens and glassware to the appropriate cleaning stations.
  • Support the service team by refilling water, clearing intermediate courses (pre-bussing), and assisting with bread service as needed.
  • Ensure side stations are fully stocked with clean glassware, silverware, linens, and condiments.
  • Organize soiled dishes and glassware at the breakdown station to assist the dishwashing team in efficient processing.
  • Greet guests with a smile and provide polite assistance if asked for directions or basic information.
  • Work "silently" and professionally to enhance the ambiance of the restaurant.
