About The Position

The Anoka County Parks mission is as a department of Anoka County, our mission is to positively impact the quality of life in Anoka County by providing parks, outdoor recreation, and leisure services for the public. Our mission encompasses the protection of the natural environment, improving the health of citizens, and supporting a strong local economy. The department has an immediate opening for Seasonal Recreation Program Specialist (Wargo Environmental Educator) who will perform various duties. Some of the critical responsibilities of this position include plan and deliver environmental education programs that align with the program delivery goals and desired outcomes of the Parks Department. This is a seasonal, non-exempt, on-site position. Interviews will take place as applications are received for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.

Requirements

  • Requires accreditation from a technical school or applicable trades program. In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must have valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use.
  • Successfully pass a criminal and driver’s license background check

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver environmental education programs that align with the program delivery goals and desired outcomes of the Parks Department.
  • Report on program outcomes by tracking participation, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Assist in curriculum preparation and provide input on current trends and popular activities to increase program relevance and resident interest.
  • Carry out established roles for supervising camper health and enforcing camp safety regulations.
  • Actively participate in staff training, meetings, and supervisory sessions.
  • Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, facilities, and the environment.
  • Guide other day camp staff in being successful in programming and assignment completion.
  • Participate in openings, closings, all programs, etc. as scheduled.
  • Assisting in care of ambassador animals and other duties as assigned.
