About The Position

The Lead Program Specialist will direct and supervise staff to coordinate the activities of program specialists that are consistent with Girl Scout standards.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years old.
  • First Aid/AED certified.
  • Lifeguard certified.
  • Student Air Rifle program certified.
  • Archery certified.
  • At least one season of experience in administration or supervisory.
  • Capacity (preferably in organized youth activities).
  • Ability to select, train, and supervise staff.
  • Ability to adapt to changes.
  • Ability to direct others in crisis situations.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Ability to develop a positive relationship with the public.
  • Must hold membership in the Girl Scout organization and subscribe to the tenets of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
  • Ability to stand on your feet for an extended period.
  • Ability to lift to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to seasonal weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • In conjunction with the camp director, plan and schedule activities that reflect the Girl Scout program.
  • Serve as consultants for Program Leaders and Unit Leaders for program ideas within the units.
  • Acts as an ambassador for camp visitors and parents.
  • Along with the camp director and assistant camp director, help handle camper emergencies.
  • Create after-care programming for after-care campers.
  • Deliver Girl Scout program to units and girls.
  • Conduct program planning and delivery.
  • Help to create new and exciting programs.
  • Teach appreciation of the out-of-doors.
  • Guide activities and experiences through use of girl-leader planning, and the Girl Scout program.
  • Coordinates program activities for specific areas.
  • Work with Campers, Aides, Volunteer Directors, Volunteer Staff, and other Staff.
  • Assume responsibility for physical health and safety and the mental welfare of the campers.
  • Be responsible for unit cleaning/activity at the end of each session and at the end of camp.
  • Act as ambassador for the unit and activity area.
  • Assist Kitchen Staff when not facilitating program activity/planning.
  • Keep records and make reports as required.
  • Makes every effort to have a strong, cohesive program to provide the best program and atmosphere for the campers.
  • Follow camp rules and regulations.
  • Helps with when needed at other camp activities, helps in the kitchen with cleaning up and serving when needed.
  • Cleans and stores equipment at the end of summer.
