Longwood Gardens is seeking a seasonal Plant Heath Care (PHC) Technician assistant to join our Horticulture team. This individual will be responsible for:

Requirements

• The ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• A valid driver’s license
• The ability to operate small utility trucks
• The ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and temperatures

Nice To Haves

• Experience in integrated pest management
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other internet-based software programs

Responsibilities

• Scouting Longwood Garden’s growing and display areas for insects and other pests, including diseases and plant viruses
• Managing nuisance pest issues including ants, wasps, cockroaches
• Releasing beneficial insects
• Performing mechanical control, as needed
• Supporting laboratory activities, such as virus testing, insect counts, and microscope work
• Supporting regulatory work with Safety Data Sheets and Chemical Labels
