About The Position

Mid-South Roof Systems is a leading commercial roofing contractor serving clients nationwide. We are seeking an experienced, safety-focused NCCCO Certified Crane Operator to join our team for a major commercial roofing project in South Carolina . This is a seasonal, project-based assignment (4–6 months) supporting large-scale commercial roofing operations. This role is critical to maintaining safe, efficient lifting operations and supporting our field crews as we deliver high-profile commercial projects. Per diem is required, and candidates must be able to stay on site as needed. Room and board will be provided for the duration of the project. The Certified Crane Boom Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently operating fixed-cab boom cranes on commercial roofing projects. This role requires excellent coordination with roofing crews, riggers, and signalers to ensure materials are positioned accurately and operations are conducted in compliance with OSHA, NCCCO, and company safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience operating cranes/booms in construction or commercial roofing environments.
  • Valid NCCCO Certification (or equivalent state/federal-approved crane operator certification).
  • Fixed Cab (TSS) endorsement for telescopic boom cranes with a fixed operator cabin.
  • Current DOT medical card (or ability to obtain)
  • Strong understanding of load charts, rigging practices, and jobsite safety
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and at heights
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
  • Ability to pass background and drug screening
  • Ability to remain on site as required for project needs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial roofing environments
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Rigging and signaling certifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Responsibilities

  • Operate mobile and/or boom cranes in accordance with NCCCO certification and OSHA standards
  • Safely perform lifts for roofing materials, equipment, and structural components
  • Conduct daily crane inspections and complete required documentation
  • Work closely with signal persons, foremen, and site leadership to ensure safe lift planning
  • Maintain compliance with company safety policies and jobsite requirements
  • Assist with general jobsite operations as needed during non-lifting periods
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area
