About The Position

The State is accepting online applications for available Seasonal Natural Resources Operations Assistant positions. Seasonal Natural Resources Operations Assistant participates in the day-to-day operations of a State Park, Beach, Campground, Golf Course, or other State Public Lands Facility. They maintain the grounds, paths, walkways, and bikeways using a variety of hand tools or outdoor power equipment such as string trimmers, push mowers, hedge trimmers, and various other small engine equipment. An employee in this classification also maintains the cleanliness and hygiene of restrooms at various State Park facilities. An Operations Assistant also is responsible for performing maintenance duties as assigned such as, litter pickup, trail cleanup, and other building and grounds light maintenance tasks. On occasion, an employee in this class will be responsible to engage with the public to provide necessary information or assistance to park visitors. Related duties will be assigned to ensure the safe operation of RIDEM facilities. Specific employees’ duties will be at the discretion of their full-time supervisor and the experience the employee has in the related fields.

Requirements

  • State Parks experience high visitation during peak periods such as weekends and holidays, therefore weekend and holiday shifts are required.
  • Employees must be 16 years of age to apply for this position.
