About The Position

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for PWR Seasonal Recruitment is April-October but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Open to the first 50 applicants or until -12/10/2025-whichever comes first. Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc. Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds. Operate an electronic cash register, computer, or Point of Sale (POS) system to conduct financial transactions; perform opening and closing functions; issue entrance receipts, tour tickets, permits, etc

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • North Cascades National Park--You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
  • Travel, transportation & relocation expenses will not be paid. Relocation expenses will be the employee's responsibility.
  • All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-12/10/2025-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
  • Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
  • Quality Ranking Factor: Handling Money: Having experience collecting and accounting for monies.
  • To qualify for this position at the GS-06 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; using an automated financial system to perform accounting and/or financial transactions; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; or resolving software issues that arise in the remittance and/or fee collection process. OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full year of graduate-level study (18 semester hours or equivalent) that directly applies to the work of the position in a field such as accounting, business, or finance. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must include transcripts. OR- COMBINATION: Possession of an equivalent combination of education and experience. For example, 6 months of the specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 9 semester hours of graduate study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education), equals 100% of the total requirement. You must include hours per week worked and must include transcripts.
  • To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include: performing fee collection, accounting or financial duties to include operating a point-of-sale system; performing recurring or standardized accounting transactions such as remittances and bank deposits in automated financial systems; ensuring accountability of funds and accurate financial record; or resolving software issues that arise in the remittance and/or fee collection process. You must include hours per week worked. OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of one full year of graduate-level study (18 semester hours or equivalent) that directly applies to the work of the position in a field such as accounting, business, or finance. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. You must include transcripts. OR- COMBINATION: Possession of an equivalent combination of education and experience. For example, 6 months of the specialized experience (50% of the experience requirement), and 12 semester hours of graduate study from an accredited institution (75% of the qualifying education), equals greater than 100% of the total requirement.
  • ICTAP/CTAP Statement: Current surplus and current or former displaced Federal individuals who have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP) must be well qualified for the position to receive consideration for special priority selection. Well qualified means that the applicant meets the following: OPM qualification standards for the position; all selective placement factors, where applicable; special qualifying conditions that OPM has approved for the position, where applicable; is physically qualified with reasonable accommodation, where appropriate to satisfactorily perform the duties of the position upon entry; and is rated by the organization at least at the well qualified level on all competencies. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc.
  • Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds.
  • Operate an electronic cash register, computer, or Point of Sale (POS) system to conduct financial transactions; perform opening and closing functions; issue entrance receipts, tour tickets, permits, etc
  • Test reservation system functionality in automated reservation systems such as Recreation.gov and report findings as appropriate. Approve or deny formal refund requests submitted by the public in the system.
  • Serve as a technical authority for the resolution of especially difficult or sensitive problems associated with the collection, remittance, and deposit of fee revenue and donations.
