About The Position

The Respite Program at Devereux, located in Tucson, AZ, offers temporary relief to primary caregivers by providing care for youth (birth to 17) experiencing moderate emotional or behavioral difficulties in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. Youth engage in a variety of recreational and enrichment activities such as arts and crafts, roller skating, gardening, movies, arcade visits, park outings, and community events like museums, parades, festivals, and sporting events. The program operates out of residential houses, fostering a fun and safe home-like atmosphere. The Seasonal Lead Direct Care Professional (Lead DCP) is responsible for protecting the health and safety of individuals, assisting Program Coordinators with the supervision, planning, and implementation of program activities, and managing children’s behaviors. Lead DCPs provide direct supervision and support the day-to-day activity schedule for individuals in the program. They also contribute to the planning and implementation of year-round enrichment activities and community outings, while serving as a role model, mentor, leader, and trainer for other Direct Care Professional staff.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License & pass DMV 36-month history check
  • Two (2) years experience in behavioral health service delivery; or one (1) year Devereux experience
  • Ability to attend New Hire Orientation May 11: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm for 6 days (paid)
  • Pre-employment Physical and Job Demand Assessment (if applicable)
  • Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results
  • Current AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card with no restrictions (or eligibility to obtain with no restrictions)

Responsibilities

  • Protect the health and safety of individuals
  • Assist the Program Coordinators with the supervising, planning, and implementation of program activities

  • Implement treatment plans
  • Provide personal care (bathing, dressing)
  • Perform household cleaning (mopping, sweeping, dusting, laundry, trash, dishes)
  • Manage medication
  • Transport individuals
  • Foster social skills
  • Document progress for daily, weekly, and monthly logs
  • Adhere to the activity schedule
  • Attend clinical supervision meetings
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of year-round enrichment activities and community outings
  • Serve as a role model, mentor, leader, and trainer to the Direct Care Professional staff
