About The Position

Devereux is seeking Seasonal Respite Direct Care Professionals in Tucson, AZ, to provide temporary relief to primary caregivers and ensure youth (birth to 17) with moderate emotional or behavioral difficulties receive care in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment. The program operates out of residential houses, creating a fun and safe home-like environment. Youth participate in various recreational and enrichment activities such as arts and crafts, roller skating, gardening, movies, arcade, park visits, and community outings (museums, parades, festivals, sporting events). Summer Direct Care Professionals (DCP) are responsible for direct supervision and assisting with the day-to-day activity schedule for individuals in the program. Devereux is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit organizations, providing services, insight and leadership in behavioral healthcare, founded in 1912. Its mission is to change lives by unlocking and nurturing human potential for people living with emotional, behavioral or cognitive differences, serving over 10,000 children, adults, and their families annually across various areas including autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, specialty mental health, education, and foster care. Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License & pass DMV 36-month history check
  • Minimum of six (6) weeks of behavioral health experience
  • Ability to attend New Hire Orientation May 11: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm for 6 days (paid)
  • Pre-employment Physical and Job Demand Assessment (if applicable)
  • Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results
  • Current AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card with no restrictions (or eligibility to obtain with no restrictions)

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision
  • Assist with the day-to-day activity schedule that is setup for individuals in the program
  • Help individuals with their mental health
  • Manage behaviors and emotional needs
  • De-escalate situations
  • Implement treatment plans
  • Provide personal care (bathing, dressing)
  • Perform household cleaning (mopping, sweeping, dusting, laundry, trash, dishes)
  • Manage medication
  • Provide transport
  • Foster social skills
  • Document progress for daily, weekly, and monthly logs
  • Adhere to the activity schedule
  • Attend clinical supervision meetings
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of enrichment activities and community outings
