Seasonal landscaping position Duties & Responsibilities: ESSENTIAL: Conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of RTD, uses sound judgment at all times, works effectively in a diverse environment, works safely on the job, respects co-workers, and assures the quality of services to all customers both internal and external. RTD provides public transportation services in an eight-county region centered in Denver, Colorado. As a public agency, employees are dedicated to serving the public and providing for the transportation needs of over 3.1 million area residents as well as visitors to the region. Services include bus, rail, shuttles, ADA paratransit services, demand-responsive services, vanpools, and more. Requirements

  • Be able to obtain necessary permits and licenses, which may include but are not limited to forklift operator license or pesticide license within 90 days of hire/appointment.
  • Must possess a valid Colorado "R" driver's license
  • No DUI, DWI, or reckless driving in the past 5 years
  • Ability to work safely with all chemicals, demonstrating the ability to read and comprehend labels and mixes chemicals in the correct ratios.
  • Knowledge and experience in industrial cleaning procedures.
  • Knowledge of proper operating procedures and maintenance of all equipment, including but not limited to industrial landscaping equipment.
  • Willingness to work flexibly in terms of schedule, location, and projects.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to solve problems and work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate physical ability to perform the job, which may require working off a ladder/lift, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds or physical strength and endurance.

Responsibilities

  • Area trash pickup, including trash removal and emptying of trash cans.
  • Operate facilities maintenance vehicles.
  • Snow removal to include plowing, sanding operations, and handwork.
  • Sweep grounds, parking lot, plazas, and tunnels and walk areas.
  • Communicate with the public in a polite and tactful manner.
  • Control weeds chemically, mechanically or manually; mulches plant beds and planter boxes.
  • Aerate lawns, lay sod, re-seed areas and apply fertilizer.
  • Plant, water, feed and maintain flowerbeds, shrub beds, mulch/rock beds and trees.
  • Prune trees and shrubs using the proper pruning techniques
  • Mow and trim all lawn, open fields and other RTD properties.
  • Reset and replace wheel stops in parking areas.
  • Surveys work requirements, measures and calculate material lists and carries out required tasks.
  • Conforms to all safety regulations and practices.
  • Operates heavy equipment, i.e. bobcat, backhoe, tractors, chipper/shredders, dump trucks, etc.
  • Assist in irrigation repairs, replace damaged sprinkler heads, check irrigation system operations, check clock run times, etc.
  • Operate pneumatic, electric, and gas powered hand tools
  • Complete special projects and assignments as directed.
