About The Position

The Seasonal Landscape Architect and Civil Engineer Preprofessional will assist with field work, research, planning, design, and project implementation related to capital improvement projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in landscape architecture, engineering, planning, or natural resources who wants to build practical skills in a real-world environment. What You'll Do Support field data collection, including documenting topography, soils, vegetation, and site conditions using GPS, cameras, and surveying tools. Conduct plant monitoring for regulatory compliance and assist in laying out preliminary project designs. Help prepare design concepts through hand sketches and computer-aided design software. Assist in developing capital planning documents such as master plans, presentations, construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates. Support internal workflows by helping manage work order requests and providing contract administration assistance, including reference checks, correspondence, meeting participation, and quantity verification. Perform general administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, ordering supplies, and data entry. Participate in construction site visits and prepare observation reports. Operate District vehicles and assist during public meetings and open houses. Contribute to a safe and collaborative work environment by following all safety procedures and supporting excellent customer service.

Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older at time of hire.
  • Valid Driver's License in good standing.
  • Pursuing or recently completed a degree in landscape architecture, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of mapping and design software, including AutoCAD, AutoDesk Civil 3D, Trimble SketchUp, ESRI ArcGIS, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe InDesign.
  • Basic knowledge of local native and invasive plant species.
  • Strong mathematics skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
