About The Position

Join America’s Sunniest Celebration and Be a Part of Our Living History Museum If you are a friendly, enthusiastic team player with a passion for history and storytelling, we invite you to apply for a seasonal Historic Docent position at Cracker Country, the living history museum at the Florida State Fairgrounds. Cracker Country is a 4-acre attraction featuring historic buildings, gardens, and grounds that bring to life a rural Florida community at the turn of the 20th century. SUMMARY Historic Area Docents interpret late 19th century life in rural Florida, giving accurate historical information about the museum buildings, exhibits and the lifestyles.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent/GED
  • Minimum of one year experience in education, museum education, historic interpretation and/or equivalent.
  • Exceptional customer service and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organize information in a concise and coherent manner for presentations.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in living history museum and/or guest services experience a plus.
  • Experience working with children and/or families a plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead tours and activities throughout the museum buildings and exhibits for the 2026 Florida State Fair.
  • Maintain historically accurate appearance throughout demonstrations and activities.
  • Learn and/or expand knowledge of historical and period activities.
