About The Position

Maymont is a 100-acre historic estate and park, located in Richmond, Virginia, with many unique experiences for all to enjoy, including the historic Maymont Mansion, The Robins Nature Center, arboretum, formal gardens, and habitats for native Virginia wildlife and farm animals. Since 1975, Maymont has been maintained and operated by the nonprofit Maymont Foundation, committed to creating experiences that delight, educate and inspire its guests. The Maymont Foundation is seeking a part-time seasonal Guest Engagement Associate. The associate ensures that guests have positive and consistent experiences at Maymont. Guest Engagement Associates must have availability to work Herbs Galore (April 25th), Vintage On The Green (May 16th) and Summer Kick-Off (June 5th/6th). This position reports to the Senior Manager of Visitor Experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Customer service in retail, hospitality or similar guest-facing environment
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to professionally and courteously communicate during fast-paced and high-demand situations
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate within and across teams
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, special events and holidays
  • Basic computer competency required (MS Office, web-based software)
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Valid driver's license required with reliable transportation to/from Maymont

Responsibilities

  • Be a first point of contact for all guests of Maymont, delivering excellent customer service, courteous communication and gracious hospitality by actively engaging first
  • Required availability to work scheduled shifts for Herbs Galore (April 25th), Vintage On The Green (May 16th) and Summer Kick-Off (June 5th/6th), primarily evenings and weekends
  • Work with colleagues and volunteers to help administer guest experience operations during general admission days, programs and community events
  • Provide guest support over the phone or email by answering general questions, assisting with memberships, or processing tickets
  • Maintain current information on all Maymont experiences, including exhibits, events and programs, and effectively communicate offerings to guests
  • Assist park safety with enforcing park rules and policies
