About The Position

Job Summary: Groundskeepers assist with the maintenance of an urban park infrastructure to create green areas that are healthy, attractive and orderly so they provide a first-class outdoor experience for visitors. Duties are assigned in the following areas but not limited to: horticulture, pathways, irrigation, custodial, shelter preparation, mow crew, field preparation, buildings, event staffing, holiday light installation/removal, and snow removal. Duties occasionally require work on weekends and evenings to support events. Work is performed under supervision of the Parks Maintenance Manager or designated supervisor who issues written or oral work orders. Requirements

  • Physically fit and able to work out of doors for extended periods, occasionally in adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to stand and operate hand and power tools for extended periods
  • Ability to mount and operate mechanical mowers and machinery
  • Ability to operate a pickup motor vehicle, UTV, or mower with no assistance
  • Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions
  • Perform duties with integrity and maintain effective working relationships
  • Possession of valid State of Idaho driver’s license and safe driving record
  • Candidates must possess valid work authorization in the United States that does not require employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to properly and effectively use hand tools: saw, hammer, ratchet, screwdriver, etc., preferred
  • Ability to operate a pickup truck, mowing equipment, ball field grooming and utility vehicles, preferred
  • Ability to effectively and safely use a string trimmer, backpack blower, edger, push mower, pneumatic, and hand power tools, preferred
  • Ability to operate a dump truck, excavator, skid steer, backhoe, and forklift, preferred
  • Ability to drive city streets in a safe manor

Responsibilities

  • Duties are assigned in the following areas but not limited to: horticulture, pathways, irrigation, custodial, shelter preparation, mow crew, field preparation, buildings, event staffing, holiday light installation/removal, and snow removal.
  • Duties occasionally require work on weekends and evenings to support events.
  • Work is performed under supervision of the Parks Maintenance Manager or designated supervisor who issues written or oral work orders.
  • Complete monthly electronic timecard.
