What you get to do: Provide guidance for the character and performer staff, and maintain a positive working environment Assist in training and coaching ambassadors Assist with the preparation of weekly and daily schedules Assist with producing special projects (i.e. Parades, Character Happenings, Character Shows, Dance Rehearsals) Supervise off site revenue initiatives with hotel partners Perform office duties such as filing, organization, and computer documentation Manages daily operation of performer section including all in park and out of park character/performer promotional appearances. Partner with other departments to create and maintain revenue generating opportunities (i.e. Photo Ops, Tours) Maintain a safe work environment and safety requirements Provide feedback to Manager regarding character and performer activities Maintain all walk around costumes and the character rooms Order all supplies for performer staff Conduct Entertainment orientation for new hires Assist in writing reviews and giving constructive feedback Communicate professionally and effectively with Ambassadors, vendors and our guests Perform other duties assigned What it takes to succeed: Have a high school diploma or equivalent Have at least 2 years leadership experience in theme park or entertainment industry Bachelor’s degree in Business, Performing Arts or related field preferred Training from a professional arts school preferred Have a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain a company driver’s license Have excellent written and verbal communication skills What else is important: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs. Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing) Ability to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat. Dancers - Demonstrate technical proficiency in a variety of styles including jazz, musical theatre, ballet, and modern. Partnering skills, break dancing, tumbling, tap, or other specialties are a plus. Event Performers - Bring our special and seasonal events to life such as Event Host, Culinary Performers and Santa's Helpers. Instrumentalists - Proficient in percussion, brass, woodwinds or guitar. All instrumentalists should have the ability to play varying styles ranging from pop/rock to Motown to gospel and must be able to memorize music for shows and perform with great stage presence. Scare Squad - Enthusiastic performers, who are passionate about Halloween, to add fun and scary excitement to our award-winning Howl-O-Scream events. Vocalists - Great energy and stage presence who can demonstrate technical proficiency in a variety of styles including pop, rock, musical theatre, classical, contemporary, and a cappella vocal styling. Capacity to hear/sing harmonies is a must. Sight reading skills are not required but are preferred. Vocalists perform in multiple high-energy shows per day to connect with our guests and create memories that last a lifetime. How should I prepare for my audition? You will be asked to learn a dance combination and participate in improve and athletic stamina exercises. Costumed character auditions are based primarily on movement, non-verbal communication, and physical coordination. Please arrive early enough to stretch and warm up before the audition begins. Please wear form fitting dance attire that allows a full range of movement and tennis or jazz shoes. Please do not wear jeans.
