About The Position

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: North Shore Preserve, set on the island of Kauai, in Princeville, Hawaii. North Shore Preserve is seeking seasonal Cooks to join the Culinary Department. Seasonal employment dates are March 15, 2026 – December 15, 2026. H-2B visa sponsorship is available. The Cook will play a vital, supporting role on the culinary team by assisting with food preparation, deliveries, and kitchen cleanliness. The Cook will work with a range of ingredients and cooking styles, so a diverse knowledge and passion for food is encouraged. The Cook will work with all members of the culinary team in the creation of unique and fun dining experiences. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Requirements

  • 12 months of full-service restaurant experience as a Line Cook or relevant position at a hotel, resort, or private club setting
  • Must work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holiday and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length. Worker may be required to work breakfast, lunch or dinner shift.
  • Must read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than four (4) hours, and lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Background check will be performed at the expense of the employer.
  • Flexibility and ability to pivot to new projects and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Seeking in-country extension candidates that are actively working in the US on an active H-2B visa and looking to extend their visa for the upcoming season.

Responsibilities

  • Execution of recipes and ability to follow recipes and all house-made ingredients promptly and efficiently. All food should be plated and presented accordingly.
  • Master all basic cooking methods.
  • Acquire ingredients daily for assigned station.
  • Help and prepare food items as per standard recipe cards whilst maintaining portion control and minimizing waste.
  • Stock the kitchen with raw materials and ingredients on a daily basis.
  • Maintain and clean equipment on a regular basis.
  • Report any hazards, unsafe working conditions, or equipment which requires repair/ maintenance.
  • Adhere to all Department of Health food & safety standards.
  • Comply with company and department policies and procedures at all times.
  • Always maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen and storage areas.
  • As a cook, worker will create and present new recipe ideas to the Executive Chef.
