The Seafood Clerk at Uwajimaya is primarily responsible for providing excellent customer service, offering the freshest seafood in the Pacific Northwest. This role involves accommodating customer requests for seafood preparation and cutting, demonstrating in-depth product knowledge, ensuring accuracy in pricing and weight, and providing valuable cooking technique recommendations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Minimum of a High school diploma or equivalent.
  • May require up to 1 year of specialized training.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Basic math proficiency, familiarity with ten-key/calculator, and comfortable using computers.
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate varying shifts.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members and proactively work independently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior retail experience and knowledge of Asian products.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor.
  • Prepare and display seafood attractively.
  • Weigh, wrap, and label products accurately.
  • Identify and handle various seafood types.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels to maximize sales and minimize shrinkage.
  • Check for pull-dated and substandard items, ensuring freshness and quality meet standards.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate signage; replace damaged or incorrect signs.
  • Inspect and manage the seafood tank, adhering to the HACCP plan and health standards.
  • Ensure the overall cleanliness of the Seafood Department, including display cases and shelves.
  • Accurately receive incoming products.
  • Other duties as assigned.
