About The Position

Our team, the Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) team at Lockheed Martin, is dedicated to engineering, developing, and integrating new capabilities for the Missile Defense System that protects the United States and its allies. While we are part of a large organization, we operate within smaller, agile teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Our responsibilities include Sensor/Weapon Integration, Algorithm Development, User Interface Development, Automated Testing, Cyber Security, and enhancing critical missile defense technologies. The Engineering Manager (EM) will be responsible for helping ensure engineering technical, cost, and schedule performance for assigned product teams are properly managed. As leaders of the C2BMC team, Lockheed Martin partners with industry leaders to develop and field the backbone of America’s missile defense. Our national team supports the design, development, testing, integration, and fielding of hardware and software elements essential for the effective operation of the Missile Defense System (MDS). You will have opportunities to interface directly with key customers, including the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). Requirements

  • A final secret clearance is required for consideration.
  • Experience with one or more elements of the Missile Defense System.
  • Experience with one or more elements involved in Space Defense, Space Domain Awareness, or other Space Missions.
  • Experience with complex Command and Control Systems, especially those with heavy networking capabilities.
  • Experience with using MBSE approaches and tools (e.g. Cameo).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on tasks where failure to achieve good results normally results in program delays and wasted expenditure of resources.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate (written and verbal) with others, present technical content, and receive critical feedback.
  • Ability to support short-notice and/or urgent tasks without a loss of efficiency.
  • Experience regularly interacting with the customer, specifically in elicitation of customer needs and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with Control Account Manager (CAMs) and EVM staff to derive cost and schedule performance
  • Manage dependencies between other product teams and support external dependencies
  • Manage and report technical issues
  • Support proposal development
  • Ensure product team technical commitments are clearly understood and carried out
  • Maintain backlog of assigned features to meet technical commitments
  • Ensure teams are following organization processes
  • Produce Estimated Time to Complete/Earned Value Management (ETC/EVM) and other engineering metrics to identify and address all technical or staffing issues while managing cost/schedule
