About The Position

The Scrum Master is a servant‑leader, coach, and facilitator who ensures that Agile values and principles are consistently reflected in how the team plans, builds, and delivers work. They create an environment where the team can focus on delivering high‑quality, incremental value, while continuously improving their ways of working. This role is accountable for the effectiveness of Scrum by guiding the team in using the framework, practices, and metrics in a disciplined but pragmatic way. Acting as an advocate for Agile, the Scrum Master challenges traditional command‑and‑control behaviors, promotes transparency and simplicity, and helps leaders and stakeholders adopt more empowering patterns.

Requirements

  • 5+ years serving as a dedicated Scrum Master for software or data delivery teams, with a demonstrated track record of improving team outcomes and Agile maturity.
  • Deep, hands-on understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum required; Kanban and/or SAFe or other scaling approaches strongly preferred).
  • Proven experience coaching teams and leaders in Agile principles, not just process mechanics, within a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.
  • Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, and servant leadership skills; able to influence without formal authority at multiple organizational levels.
  • Familiarity with Agile tooling (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps) and using dashboards and metrics to inform decisions and improvements.
  • Relevant certifications such as PSM, CSM, or SAFe Scrum Master (preferred but not required when experience is exceptional).
  • Visible passion for Agile, with a commitment to continuous learning and adoption of modern practices (flow metrics, DevOps collaboration, experimentation culture).
  • Systems thinker who looks beyond a single team to optimize end-to-end delivery and customer value.
  • Excellent communicator who can translate effectively between technical teams, products, and business stakeholders.
  • Proven experience leading the rollout and scaling of Agile practices within technology teams, including establishing core ceremonies, coaching cross-functional stakeholders, and continuously improving delivery processes.

Responsibilities

  • Champion an Agile mindset and Scrum values across the team and broader organization; model transparency, pragmatism, and continuous improvement in daily work.
  • Support multiple Agile development teams concurrently, ensuring they have the clarity, coaching, and cross-team coordination needed to deliver high-quality outcomes consistently.
  • Drive cross-team and cross-product delivery by facilitating dependency mapping, maintaining clear dependency artifacts, and establishing recurring forums and ceremonies to proactively manage and resolve inter-team dependencies.
  • Facilitate all Scrum events (Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, Retrospective) to ensure they are purposeful, timeboxed, and outcome-oriented.
  • Remove impediments proactively, or enable the team to remove them, escalating and influencing across functions to protect flow and sprint goals.
  • Coach Product Owners on effective backlog management, clear acceptance criteria, and value-driven prioritization; help the team understand product vision and desired outcomes.
  • Coach developers on self-organization, cross-functionality, and technical/quality practices that support sustainable delivery.
  • Use Agile metrics (throughput, cycle time, predictability, quality indicators) to drive data-informed experimentation and continuous improvement, rather than compliance reporting.
  • Foster a psychologically safe environment where issues are surfaced early and addressed constructively; mediate conflicts and encourage healthy challenge.
  • Advocate for Agile ways of working with leaders and stakeholders, coaching them away from command-and-control behaviors toward empower-and-enable leadership.
  • Coordinate dependencies with other teams and help optimize flow across the value stream, not just within a single team.
  • Support change management for Agile adoption by contributing to training, communities of practice, and the sharing of best practices and lessons learned.
  • Respectfully challenge anti-patterns (including command-and-control behaviors, excessive work in progress, and scope-only focus) and coach stakeholders toward more effective, value-driven ways of working
