Job Overview: We are looking for a part-time scrub tech/first assist to work flexible hours (12-18 hours per week), supporting Dr. Nick Garcia. The scrub tech/first assist functions as a cooperative team member in the operating room by handling the necessary instruments for surgery. This position can proactively anticipate the needs of the surgical team and be ready to aid when needed. Their duties revolve around the sterilization of instrumentation and the equipment within the operating room. SPD experience preferred.
Requirements
- At least 1 -2 years of operating room experience in an ASC/office-based surgery center, preferred.
- Excellent communication skills – Fosters an environment of collaboration and respect with physician colleagues, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Strong Problem solving skills, time management, and multi-tasking
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Flexible schedule, operating days can start as early as 6 AM.
- Current BLS certification
Nice To Haves
- SPD experience preferred.
- Current Surgical Technician or Surgical First Assistant Certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Ensures sterility of supplies and instruments while in the operating room.
- Responsible for the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment.
- Responsible for gathering necessary surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Responsible for the sterilization and cleaning of instrument sets.
- Gowns and gloves surgeons for the operating room.
- Follows all equipment and safety guidelines.
- Possess working knowledge of use and care of supplies, instruments, and equipment.
- Serves as a resource to other members within the operating room.
- Communicates effectively and courteously with staff and patients within the practice.
- Complies with all Garramone Plastic Surgery policies and procedures.
- Travel to multiple locations may be required
