C.H. Thompson is currently seeking a Screen Printer Apprentice to join our team. As a Screen Printer Apprentice, you will work closely with experienced screen printers to learn and master the art and science of screen printing on various metal surfaces. Position Overview Material Preparation: Assist in cleaning, degreasing, and preparing metal parts for screen printing, ensuring surfaces are free of contaminants. Learn to properly set up and secure parts on printing fixtures and tables. Assist with mixing and preparing inks, ensuring correct color and viscosity for specific applications. Screen Preparation & Maintenance: Learn the process of preparing screen printing screens, including coating, exposing, and developing. Assist with reclaiming and cleaning screens after use. Understand proper storage and maintenance of screens and printing equipment. Printing Assistance: Assist the lead screen printer with loading and unloading parts from the printing area. Learn proper squeegee techniques, pressure application, and registration for various designs and materials. Observe and assist in troubleshooting common printing issues. Quality Control: Inspect printed parts for defects such as smudges, misprints, or inconsistencies. Learn to identify and correct quality issues in real-time. Understand and follow the quality control procedures and documentation. Collaboration: Team Communication: Coordinate with painters, anodize operators, or other production team members to ensure smooth workflow during subsequent processes. Feedback Loop: Provide feedback on masking challenges or improvements to enhance efficiency. Safety and Compliance: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate PPE (gloves, safety glasses) to protect against chemicals and sharp edges.
