About The Position

Treeline Biosciences is an innovative biotechnology company, founded by an experienced team of biopharmaceutical scientists and executives, committed to developing new medicines against difficult to drug targets in cancer and other life-threatening diseases. We are pursuing a uniquely integrated approach that applies modern and emerging tools in genomics, lead discovery, medicinal chemistry, and computation to reduce the time and risks of drug discovery. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic, and highly motivated Scientist to join our Watertown, MA structural biology group to support the team’s delivery of high-quality scientific data that drive small molecule drug discovery. The successful candidate will have a critical role in supporting Treeline’s drug discovery programs by collaborating closely with the multi-disciplinary Lead Discovery organization across biophysics, mass spec, biochemistry, structural biology, and protein production, as well as the broader organization including biology, computational chemistry, and medicinal chemistry. The ideal candidate will take a lead on lab equipment operation/maintenance, execute on structural experiments, and effectively communicate results to colleagues within Lead Discovery and project teams.

Requirements

  • PhD in Structural Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Biology or related discipline with 0+ years or BS/MS with 6+ years experience in biotech/pharma industry.
  • Training in crystallographic workflow: screening, crystal harvesting, ligand complexing, data collection and processing, and structure refinement.
  • Experience with a Linux cloud computation environment – knowledge of databases and Python/shell scripting is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain and operate sensitive lab equipment, like liquid handlers, automated imagers, and microscopes.
  • Ability to work efficiently and communicate detailed results within defined timelines and to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fragment screening or novel crystallographic workflows is a plus.
  • Additional experience with protein purification, biophysical methods (SPR, DSF, MST, ITC), or other structural characterization technique (cryoEM/NMR/SAXS) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Establish protein crystallization conditions for small molecule soaks/co-crystallization and solve high resolution crystal structures to drive structure-based drug design.
  • Maintain day-to-day operation of the structural biology laboratory and equipment.
  • Provide insights and guidance to build the capabilities of the structural biology platform.
  • In collaboration with project teams, establish SAR to rapidly drive the hit finding, hit-to-lead, and lead optimization process.
