About The Position

The Scientist, R&D – Cell Culture role is responsible for developing innovative cell culture products. This involves designing and executing experiments, analyzing data, and collaborating with various functional teams. The Scientist is expected to stay current with industry trends, share technical expertise, and solve complex problems to enhance product and process improvements. This is an on-site position located in Logan, Utah, within the Hyclone/Cytiva group, and reports to the Director of R&D/Services.

Requirements

  • MS in Biochemical Engineering, Cell Biology, or a related discipline; or BS with a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience in cell line development, cell culture process development and/or biologics manufacturing industry experience
  • Mastery of core cell culture techniques, understanding of Design of Experiments (DoE), and strong skills in statistical design and analysis
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills

Responsibilities

  • Drive the successful development of new products and materials for cell culture bioprocessing, engaging team members and working across functions
  • Independently design experimental plans, participate in the execution of studies and protocols, analyze experimental data, document results in reports, and present on findings in key internal and external scientific forums
  • Proactively adopt, utilize, and share relevant technical information and best practices within area of expertise, staying current on industry trends and novel technologies
  • Leverage important multidisciplinary synergies (Product and Project Management, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Regulatory, etc.) for product and process design
  • Independently identify and solve complex technical problems, assessing technical and business risks and applying scientific rigor towards evolutionary and revolutionary improvement of processes and products
