About The Position

The Pharmacokinetics, Dynamics, Metabolism, and Bioanalytics (PDMB) function of our company in West Point, Pennsylvania, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Scientist to join the Transporter Science Group. The Transporter Science group is a center of excellence to design, execute, and integrate transporter related in vitro and preclinical studies to support our company's Portfolio through all stages of drug discovery and development. We are also driving cutting edge ADME-transporter science via development and implementation of novel in vitro and preclinical models, as well as translational approaches to enhance our capabilities to quantitatively predict the roles of transporters on ADME, drug-drug interactions (DDIs), efficacy, and toxicity of drugs in a diversified portfolio that spans various therapeutic areas and modalities. In this position, candidates will be responsible to generate transporter related in vitro data to support discovery and development programs. Candidates will also have the opportunity to work closely with other scientists across the network to advance our scientific strategy via developing and implementing novel tools/emerging technologies. Successful candidates should have a passion for generating high quality data for use by project teams across a range of therapeutic areas and must be able to work independently with a range of in vitro assay systems. In addition, candidates will be conducting experiments using automated liquid handlers and other sophisticated scientific instrumentation. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communications and experience working in a team environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to design, perform and interpret in vitro studies generated in cell lines, hepatocytes or subcellular fractions per established protocols
  • Cell culture, including aseptic techniques and maintenance of recombinant cell lines and primary cells
  • Ability to work independently and effectively to develop and validate new assays with some technical and strategic supervision
  • Proficiency in data handling software such as Excel and Graphpad, ability to document results accurately and generate reports to be shared with internal partners or regulatory agencies

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience and knowledge of transporter-related in vitro studies (eg, cellular uptake studies, transporter inhibition assays)
  • Basic understanding of quantitation using radiometric or LC/MS-based methods
  • Experience operating liquid handlers and working with assay automation
  • Experience working in the pharmaceutical industry or in a contract research organization (CRO)
