About The Position

You will join the Oligo Platform Biology team in the United States to help establish high throughput oligo screening workflows and capabilities within GSK’s new oligo platform biology lab. They will be able to work with cross-functional teams across the organization on a variety of disease areas and oligo modalities. Oligo modalities being pursued include ASO, siRNA, SSO and RNA editors. You will work closely with discovery scientists, automation engineers, and data analysts. We value hands-on problem solvers who communicate clearly, learn quickly, and take ownership to make measurable impact. This role offers clear opportunities to grow technical and leadership skills while contributing to GSK’s mission of uniting science, technology and talent to get ahead of disease together.

Requirements

  • MS with 3+ years, or BS with 5+ years, in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • 2+ years experience with high-throughput screening, cell-based assays and automation.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, transfection of nucleic acids, and handling primary or immortalized cell lines.
  • Experience with cell and molecular biology and techniques (e.g. mammalian cell culture, RNA/DNA isolation, transfection, PCR/qPCR, ELISA, Western Blot, gel electrophoresis, etc.)
  • Experience with liquid handlers and dispensers (for example Viaflo 96/384, Certus Flex, Tecan or similar)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in biotech or pharmaceutical research environments.
  • Experience working with oligonucleotide modalities such as ASO, siRNA, SSO, or RNA editors.
  • Experience with automating high throughput assays and liquid handler scripting.
  • Experience with digital PCR, next-generation sequencing workflows, or automated protein assays.
  • Experience miniaturizing assays to 384-well formats and supporting liquid handler scripting or method setup.
  • Familiarity with dPCR, NGS, and mammalian cell systems and in vitro models relevant to liver, central nervous system, kidney, or lung tissues.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot complex assays and implement robust solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience keeping clear laboratory records.
  • Sense of urgency, flexibility, independence and accountability
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels both inside and outside of organization.
  • Maintain a high level of integrity while balancing multiple priorities and responsibilities.
  • Must be a committed team player prepared to work in and embrace a team-based culture.
  • Ability to work independently to support oligo platform and portfolio projects at CPD

Responsibilities

  • Independently design, execute, and troubleshoot high throughput cell-based assays to support oligo platform and portfolio projects.
  • Miniaturize (384-well) and adapt cell-based assays into automated workflows.
  • Establish new screening workflows and draft SOPs in support of new programs.
  • Analyze and present screening results, recommending courses of action based on datasets.
  • Lead and participate in discussions with cross functional teams to support lead discovery.
  • Train other scientists in the team with new assays and automation.
  • Be a key member of oligo biology team and serve as a strong representative on interdisciplinary project teams.
