We are looking to fill a Scientist III - Open Access Instrumentation Support position working as a full-time employee of Parexel FSP on long-term assignment onsite at one of our clients located in Boston, MA. Description The Scientist III – Open Access Instrumentation Support is a laboratory-based role that operates and maintains open access liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) instrumentation and other duties as assigned by the client.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least 3-5 years of experience or a Master’s degree in a relevant field with at least 1-2 years of experience
  • Experience in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and hands-on knowledge in LC-MS are required with an interest in expanding knowledge/background in LC-MS method development and optimization, data analysis, and sample preparation techniques
  • Experience with preparation of mobile phases for LC-MS instruments
  • Effective organizational, multi-tasking, and oral/written communications skills as the environment is fast-paced and results-oriented
  • Well-developed written and oral communication capabilities
  • Proficient in written and spoken English, is required

Responsibilities

  • Checks instrument performance daily, and performs routine upkeep of open access LC-MS instruments
  • Responds to end-user repair calls for LC-MS instrumentation and troubleshoots/repairs simple issues such as leaks or clogs
  • Submits and coordinates repair tickets for more complex issues
  • Coordinates cryogen orders, and performs weekly liquid nitrogen fills for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) instruments
  • Performs daily sample clean up on the open access NMR systems
  • Cleans electrospray ionization (ESI) process source and runs standards monthly
  • Assists with preparation of samples and set up of data acquisition for analysis by liquid chromatography (LC), by LC-MS, and Circular Dichroism Spectroscopy (CD)
  • Documents LC-MS performance and uptime
  • Assists with purity analysis of investigational compounds by LC
  • Maintains accurate documentation and records
