The Scientist, Bioanalytical LC-MS supports multiple functions related to Bioanalytical discovery and development. This role is responsible for at least one of the following bioanalytical activities: instrumental analysis (LC/MS/MS and/or LC/UV or ligand binding assays/immunogenicity assays), automation, matrix analysis, specialty mass spectrometry techniques, method development/validation, GLP studies, biomarker analysis, enzyme- or immuno-based assays. The individual may also serve as a primary point of contact for certain bioanalytical efforts.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in biology, chemistry, or related science and 2+ years of industry experience in an biotech, pharma, and/or CRO setting
  • Experience working in and accomplishing tasks a timeline driven setting
  • Some background in bioanalytical job-relevant core competency (instrumental analysis (LC/MS/MS and/or LC/UV), automation, matrix analysis, specialty mass spectrometry techniques, method development/validation GLP studies, biomarker analysis) or Some background in bioanalytical job-relevant core competency (immunoassays such as ELISA, handling of a variety of biological matrices such as serum and plasma, automation, method development/validation GLP studies, biomarker analysis)
  • Some hands-on experience with role-appropriate technology and methodology such as: automation, LC-MS/MS, radioisotope use, PK analysis and modeling and simulation software
  • Developing strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented yet developing the ability to see broader picture of scientific impact on team
  • Developing understanding of project / group goals and methods
  • Developing the ability to recognize anomalous and inconsistent results and interprets experimental outcomes
  • Developing knowledge of one or more scientific disciplines, becoming expert in one discipline
  • Developing strong knowledge of scientific principles, methods and techniques
  • Ability to work with a variety of laboratory instrumentation and/or PK analysis and or modeling and simulation software
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Developing problem-solving, analytical thinking skills
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines, with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in lab automation is preferred
  • Experience in large molecules and biomarkers bioanalysis is beneficial
  • MS/MA degree in biology, chemistry, or related science and some industry experience preferred
  • PhD or equivalent and some experience

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample analysis to support bioanalysis efforts for preclinical studies, including pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, immunogenicity, and biological activity
  • Generate and characterize critical reagents to support assay development and assay life cycle maintenance (e.g., Biotinylation)
  • Effectively communicate results to internal/external teams in presentations and internally authored reports
  • Prepare documents to support technical transfer of methods to CROs
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and operational laboratory space including maintenance of equipment and procurement of supplies
  • May perform pharmacokinetic assay method development, including ligand binding assays/immunogenicity assays
  • May perform other techniques such as western blotting, genomic isolations, RT-qPCR, and ddPCR
  • Peer QC lab notebooks, study reports, and regulatory contribution BA sections
  • Performs other duties as assigned
