Scientist 3, Antibody Engineering
About The Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Scientist 3 to join the Department of Antibody Engineering in Genentech Research and Development (gRED), where we develop transformative antibody drugs through pioneering science and technology. This individual will contribute to biologics portfolio projects by discovering and engineering next-generation antibody-based therapeutic molecules. Additionally, this individual will work on technology projects to evaluate and implement innovative technologies aimed at enhancing our antibody discovery and engineering workflows. This is a predominantly wet-lab role that involves designing, engineering and experimentally characterizing antibodies and novel antibody formats, as well as analyzing and interpreting data to guide project decisions.
Requirements
- You have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biophysics, Molecular and Cell Biology, Structural Biology, Chemical Biology, or related disciplines, or a BS/MS degree with 8+ years of industry research experience
- Technical expertise in protein characterization and engineering, and molecular biology techniques are essential
- Highly motivated individual who is proactive, resourceful, and organized
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Sustained record of productivity in the form of publications or patents
- Experienced in executing and optimizing in silico experimental workflows
- Passionate about tackling complex scientific problems in a cross-functional and collaborative environment, with a commitment to translational science
Nice To Haves
- Research experience with antibodies or antibody-based molecules is desirable but not essential
- Proficiency in computational methods for protein design is a plus
