About The Position

Chenega is seeking an experienced Scientific Data Analyst I to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP), Epidemiology Research and Innovations Branch (ERIB). This person will provide programmatic and scientific technical assistance to CDC subject matter experts on the execution of studies relating to healthcare associated infections, viral pathogens and antibiotic stewardship

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher.
  • One (1) to Two (2) years of relevant, direct comparable or similar work experience
  • Professional working knowledge of R and/or Python.
  • Professional interpersonal and computer skills, to include but not limited to, skills in operating Microsoft Office software, with emphasis on Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook as well as SharePoint.
  • Skills in managing and prioritizing multiple assignments with strict deadlines and ability to coordinate efforts among many offices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Expertise to prepare and present information/data via oral briefing(s) and/or by written reports.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and support the analyses needed to populate a social network analysis tool or other modelling activities, as requested. This includes working in conjunction with a current investigator to create code or analyses to be executed or included in mathematical models.
  • Create and submit well-formatted and documented R code or code in other languages and platforms (Python, Pyspark, Dcipher, and/or SQL) to conduct quality control and manipulation of data bases including merging, managing, and updating data; generating standard reports; performing data quality reviews; data editing/cleaning; and resolving data quality problems.
  • Create and submit R code or code in other languages and platforms (Python, Pyspark, Dcipher, and/or SQL) to conduct statistical and epidemiological analyses in support of CDC scientists including descriptive analyses and advanced statistical methods.
  • Facilitate programming and data management analyses to draft and publish scientific papers.
  • Prepare tables and charts for presentations and publications as well as develop data dictionaries and data management documents for studies working in conjunction with principal investigators.
  • Apply analytic expertise to aid with new acquisitions and renewals of various administrative data sources by developing data request packages and scientific research approvals (e.g., through institutional review boards).

  • Collaborate with diverse groups of epidemiologists, statisticians, programmers, medical officers, and project managers in response to data analytic requests related to ERIB’s programmatic mission.
  • Perform day-to-day project management tasks to support ERIB led and supported projects, ensure objectives are accomplished. Recommend or take corrective action based on scientific and technical expertise.
  • Participate in and/or coordinate meetings, conferences, 1-2 site visits, conference calls, webinars, and in-person meetings.
  • Co-author scientific manuscripts.
