About The Position

Leidos has an immediate need for a Scientific Data Visualization Specialist to support the High Performance Computing Modernization Program (HPCMP) Integrated Technical Services (HITS) task order contract and the Data Analysis and Visualization Center (DAV Center), to perform Data Analysis and/or Visualization activities. All Candidates must be able to obtain a Top Secret Clearance. The DAV Center and Responsibilities: Supports and provides robust interactive data analysis tools (such as ParaView, VisIt and EnSight) which are configured by to run in a client-server mode from HPC systems to local user workstations, and a special home-grown VNC solution called the Secure Remote Desktop. Participates in cross-HPCMP collaborations with customers, contractors, and technology partners, and maintains a working relationship with other government entities such as the Department of Energy to promote and advance data analysis and visualization applications. Install, maintain, and optimize scientific visualization and data analytic tools Design and develop methods and workflows supporting HPCMP users who have varying levels of understanding regarding data and visualization techniques Curation of data from disparate HPC systems to support custom visualization needs of the customer Actively work with HPC vendors, Gov personnel, and security staff to ensure appropriate DAV Center tools are functional, supported, and persistent after upgrades or security changes Ensure isosurface inputs are consumable by DAV Center visualization software and workflows. If data is not consumable, develop a methodology to convert the data into an appropriate format taking that burden off of the user Serves as a subject matter resource available to assist with scientific data visualization tasks/projects. This includes, partnering with the user to understand their goals, code, workflow, and intended outcome to develop and design a successful path forward. Often involves custom methods to meet the needs of each project.

Requirements

  • Bachelors and four (4) years or more experience. The candidate should have a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study in professional engineering, computer engineering, software design, or computer science. Additional years of experience may be substituted to satisfy educational requirements.
  • Familiar with at least one of the following data analysis packages: ParaView, VisIt, EnSight.
  • Scientific visualization, data analysis and high performance computing.
  • Working knowledge of Linux/Unix OS, shell scripting
  • Familiar with HPC workload managers such as PBS, SLURM, or LSF.
  • Familiar with MPI tools, compiling ParaView and Visit from Superbuild scripts, using CMake.
  • Programming familiarity with C++, Python, Fortran, working with GIT repositories.
  • SSH familiarity including tunneling, reverse tunneling, and port forwarding.
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.
