The Wheaton Academy teacher is part of a dynamic team committed to nurturing growth in high school students through relationships, excellence, and service to the glory of God. Teachers integrate biblical truth into instruction while challenging students to meet high educational standards through innovative, student-centered learning. Essential Responsibilities include the following: Instruction & Planning Design and deliver engaging, in-person lessons that meet departmental and enrollment needs. Integrate biblical principles naturally and consistently into lessons. Demonstrate strong content knowledge and connect learning across disciplines. Teach a variety of courses within the discipline as needed. Utilize appropriate resources and technology to achieve learning goals. Develop clear assessment criteria and use results to inform instruction. Differentiate lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs. Provide additional support for students requiring extra help. Serve as a Christian role model for Wheaton Academy students, parents, and other members of the school community Assessment Assess students fairly and accurately based on clear expectations. Offer multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate understanding. Provide timely, constructive feedback and maintain accurate records in OnCampus Learning Management System. Prepare students for AP exams, national language tests, and college readiness benchmarks. Learning Environment Create a safe, respectful, welcoming, and Christ-centered classroom culture, establishing clear procedures and standards of conduct. Model the attributes of a Living Curriculum Teacher Foster a Kingdom Community that reflects Wheaton Academy’s Mission and Statement of Faith . Spiritual Formation & Community Involvement Maintain a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and active participation in a local evangelical church. Model spiritual maturity and live out the principles of a Living Curriculum Teacher . Shares and highlights church participation, God’s work in their life, and answers to prayer. Disciple students through authentic relationships. Stays up to date in what his/her students participate in and frequently talks to them about it. Professional Responsibilities Maintain ACSI or state certification or actively pursue advanced credentials. Complete administrative tasks and attend required meetings and school events. Communicate proactively with parents and engage families in the learning process. Collaborate with colleagues and participate in professional development. Demonstrate enthusiasm for Wheaton Academy’s mission and community.
