Axle is seeking a Science Program Analyst to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) supporting the Office of the Director (OD) located in Bethesda, MD.

Requirements

  • Environmental science or related scientific discipline
  • Data science and portfolio analysis
  • Computational toxicology
  • Novel alternative (non-animal) research methodologies
  • Large Language Models and AI-enabled analysis tools
  • Strong report and technical writing
  • Policy and legislative analysis
  • Quantitative and qualitative data analysis
  • Presentation development (briefings, slides, talking points)
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

  • Gather, organize, and analyze data supporting NIH initiatives to advance human-based research approaches (Highest Priority)
  • Track legislative, policy, and scientific advances related to non-animal research models and integrate findings into reports and presentations
  • Develop slide decks and talking points promoting NIH initiatives to adopt human-based methods and reduce animal use
  • Draft briefs, reports, and other written materials for NIH senior leadership
  • Use LLMs and AI tools, as appropriate, for data analysis and preparation of briefing documents
  • Support cross-agency collaborations with: Federal partners Research institutions Private-sector innovators to foster a collaborative culture around non-animal research and testing
  • Produce detailed analytical reports for use by upper management
  • Provide technical expertise in evaluating programs related to non-animal research initiatives
  • Work with Evaluation Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) within DPCPSI/OEPR and the DPCPSI Director’s Office to: Identify effective programs and policies advancing non-animal research methods Contribute to evaluation efforts using established metrics Collect and analyze internal data Assist in drafting evaluation summaries and recommendations
