About The Position

The Elementary School Tutor is responsible for providing targeted academic support to elementary school students (kindergarten-5th grade) in various subject areas. This role is geared to reinforce foundational skills, foster a positive attitude toward learning, and help students achieve their academic potential, while having a focus on individualized instruction, positive reinforcement, and effective communication with teachers and parents.

Requirements

An understanding of elementary and/or secondary school curriculum and teaching methods, or a willingness to learn, is required.
Excellent communication skills and ability to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and to follow the direction of school administrators and/or lead teachers is needed.
Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for teaching and learning is necessary.

Responsibilities

Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions tailored to the specific academic needs and learning styles of students.
Assist students with their homework assignments, clarifying doubts, and reinforcing concepts covered in the classroom.
Help students develop essential study skills, time management, and organizational habits to improve their overall academic performance.
Track and assess students' progress, identifying areas of improvement and areas where additional support is needed.
Communicate progress reports to teachers and administrators.
Create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, participation, and enthusiasm for learning.
Utilize the provided teaching materials, resources, and educational technologies to enhance the learning experience and cater to diverse learning needs.
Maintain open and effective communication with teachers and administrators to coordinate efforts and ensure students receive comprehensive support.
Provide guidance and mentorship to students, promoting positive behavior, respect, and a strong work ethic.
Perform other related work as assigned.
