About The Position

Superintendent, Dr. Pascal Mubenga, is interested in receiving applications from qualified candidates for the following positions: SUMMER 2026 SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAM EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR (ESY) AREAS OF TENURE : SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER SCHOOL COUNSELOR

Requirements

• Candidates must be New York State or Buffalo certified in the tenure area in which they are applying to work.
• Candidates must attach a PDF or a screenshot of their certifications.
• Priority in the selection of teachers will be given to qualified permanent/ tenured/probationary/temporary Buffalo Public School teachers in order of summer school seniority.
• Summer school seniority is defined as previous years of BPS summer employment in a classroom setting.
• Only current and active BPS employees earn summer school seniority.

Responsibilities

• Work individually or in a group with students in need of support services and counseling, offer strategies and support to families/guardians
• Support teachers with the implementation of Positive Behavior Supports/Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.
• Provide clinical interventions with parents, based on an assessment of the family’s needs, in order to reinforce emotional or behavioral strategies with their children
• Coordinates/monitors PBIS Social Academic Instructional Groups (SAIG) and other Tier 2 Interventions; maintains data on students; progress monitor students participating in this intervention
• Complete IEP mandated counseling for students attending ESY as described by their IEPs
• Provide crisis intervention; provide crisis prevention and de-escalation to avert such crisis
• Performs any assigned duties as deemed necessary and appropriate
