About The Position

Sylvan of Flint is looking for part time instructors for school site locations. Why did you first decide to become a Teacher? At Sylvan, we remember why. As an Instructor at Sylvan, your primary responsibilities are: Just Teaching. No Lesson Plans. No Preparation. JOB DESCRIPTION: Our part-time Sylvan Instructors will be trained on the Sylvan curriculum and given the tools to teach in a small group setting. We provide personalized instruction in Reading and Math. As a successful Instructor, you will: Deliver Quality Education: Teach Sylvan based programs and personalized learning plans using the iPad for a more engaging and interactive learning experience Supervise, interact with and motivate students during instruction hour while working on lessons that adapt to the students' individual skill and pace, making learning challenging and fun. Provide students with instant feedback and recognition. Inspire Students: Develop rapport with students and establish a fun learning environment. Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching at Sylvan while also working at a school location.

Requirements

  • Applicant is enrolled in an Alternative Certification Program
  • Applicant has teaching experience that does not require certification, such as teaching in private school or in institution of higher education
  • Applicant is in sophomore year of college or higher and enrolled in a program as an education major.

Benefits

  • Consistent shifts Monday through Friday 8:15am-3:15pm
  • Age groups 3rd through 6th grades working on math and reading
  • This role is seasonal and will follow the academic school year calendar
  • No lesson planning or parent conferences
  • Focus on making a difference, our directors handle all scheduling, conferences, and planning.
