About The Position

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Provide assistance to assigned schools with psychological evaluations, instructional planning, behavioral service support, and staff development activities. Knowledge of K-12 Special Education Knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction Knowledge of standardized assessment administration/interpretation/diagnosis Physical ability to adhere to OSHA and district safety regulations. Work within the district’s communicable disease control plan (blood borne pathogens) and be aware of the existence and potential exposure to hazardous chemicals as identified on the MSDS sheets. This position is considered a safety sensitive position. Requirements

Oregon Personnel Services license with School Psychologist endorsement.
Master's degree in school/educational psychology from an accredited college or university.
Ability to work with children, parents, and school personnel.
Dependable transportation, current driver’s license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

Complete special education evaluations and written reports.
Interpret evaluation data, progress monitoring data, psychological reports, psychiatric reports, and special education documents for teams and staff.
Integrate evaluation data into a clear, organized and educationally relevant evaluation report in the district’s format/template.
Use a variety of assessment tools to assess academic skills, cognitive ability, psychological processing, adaptive skills, social skills, and emotional/behavioral status.
Provide consultation to teachers regarding instructional, behavioral, and social interventions.
Provide staff development inservices concerning assessment, instruction, and intervention strategies.
Communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with students, parents and staff.
Assist schools with Eligibility Discussions and IEP development.
Establish and maintain positive, flexible, and cooperative relationships with teachers, school administration, and district staff.
Facilitates and acts as a district representative at problem solving, IEP, and eligibility meetings.
Participate in professional growth activities.
Comply with school district policies and procedures.
Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.

Work to establish open lines of communication with students, parents and colleagues concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of students.

Attend and participates in weekly department meetings.
Perform related duties as assigned by the director.
Demonstrate a commitment to advocate for the needs of all students, especially students with disabilities and the need to educate them in a least restrictive environment.
Supports implementation of best practices for inclusive education for students served by special education kindergarten through transition program.
Supports implementation of culturally responsive, social emotional learning and trauma informed teaching practices and anti-bias education.
Provide education assessments and written reports.

Plans and develops programs or services for the needs of students through consultations with district personnel, community members, parents, and outside agencies.
Provides technical assistance to district staff relative to program development, instructional methods, materials, equipment, and facilitation.
Monitors IEP process in assigned buildings to assure compliance with federal, state, and district rules. Provides technical assistance and training when necessary.
Develops and manages private school service plans.
Facilitates and acts as a district representative at problem solving, IEP, and eligibility meetings.
Discusses and collaborates about district special education programs, personnel and students with building administrators
Coordinates with building principals regarding caseloads, schedules, special education transportation needs, and special education state assessment processes.
Facilitates Manifestation Determination meetings.
Mentors and supports new special education case managers.
Plans and provides relevant professional development to small and large groups.
Facilitates team meetings and participates in department PLC.
Collaborates to support completion of required state collections and improvement plans.
