About The Position

SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST 2026-27 School Year Tri-County Special Education Services USD 495/712 www.usd495.com/page/tri-co-special-education-coop-home QUALIFICATIONS: Education Specialist Kansas Certification Would be willing to take a candidate working on licensure ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES (Direct or Consultative): Administer psychological and educational tests, conduct classroom observations and gather other information needed for evaluation and intervention planning. Consult and assist in the development and annual review of individual education programs. (including assistance with providing Prior Written Notice) Consult and assist teachers in developing and implementing effective classroom management and instructional techniques. Consult with teachers and parents regarding behavioral, emotional, and educational concerns. Makes referrals within the district for individuals requiring mental health, social work, or family support services. Makes referrals to appropriate community sources when further intervention or information is warranted. Assist in providing in-service to special and regular education staff to augment the necessary knowledge base for understanding and programming for exceptional students. Work with school and/or community agencies to facilitate students’ transition from one setting to another. Coordinate the evaluative placement and temporary program of transferring students by securing required records, gathering information from the previous school and participating in the review of the program placement and IEP. Coordinate the exchange of information among outside agencies dealing with students with disabilities or those referred for comprehensive evaluation. Assist in the provision of career education, work-study and other vocational education for exceptional students. OTHER DUTIES: Serve as case manager for all comprehensive evaluations, complete and compile all required forms and reports. Conduct three-year reevaluations within compliance timelines. Coordinate and collaborate on preschool and kindergarten screenings. Attend professional development opportunities to strengthen IEP compliance, legal guidelines or anything that might support and strengthen this position.
