About The Position

The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to high school students participating in an Extended School Year (ESY) program. The role focuses on supporting students’ social-emotional functioning, mental health, and transition readiness through counseling, assessment, and collaboration with school staff, families, and related service providers. The School Psychologist delivers individualized and group-based supports to help students maintain skills, build coping strategies, and develop the social-emotional and functional skills necessary for success in post-secondary environments, including employment, education, and independent living. This position also includes providing transitional counseling support and extending services into community-based settings, such as internship and job sites, to support students in applying skills across real-world environments. The role emphasizes working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism spectrum disorder and emotional and/or behavioral needs, while supporting access to ESY programming across school and community settings.

Requirements

  • Mass DESE Licensure required
  • Experience working with high school and/or post-secondary students with diverse learning needs, including students with emotional and/or behavioral needs and students with autism spectrum disorder
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with community-based instruction, life skills and transition planning preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver counseling and instructional supports to help students maintain skills, information, and behaviors aligned with IEP goals
  • Facilitate social-emotional learning across BHS ESY programs, including individual and/or small group support
  • Provide transitional counseling support in areas such as job readiness, self-advocacy, daily living skills, and social skills to support post-secondary readiness
  • Travel to community-based locations, including internships, job sites, field trips, and volunteer placements, to provide on-site social-emotional support and assist with skill generalization
  • Accompany classes and/or conduct site visits to community-based locations, including internships, field trips and volunteer placements, to support student programming
  • Provide virtual (Zoom) counseling and support services when required
  • Coordinate with related service providers and support service-only students to ensure access to appropriate supports
  • Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, and multidisciplinary team members to support implementation of IEPs and student interventions
  • Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment
